USA Pro Challenge 2014

Doctor Robert, The Beatles tribute, was very fortunate to be invited to perform at two finishes of the 2014 Pro Challenge road bike race. The first performance was after Stage 2 in Mt. Crested Butte, the second was after Stage 3 at Monarch Mountain. Thanks to both LOC’s for having us, we’re honored to be part of the biggest cycling event in the U.S.

Doctor Robert, The Colorado Beatles Tribute Band

Doctor Robert, The Colorado Beatles Tribute band, played two very memorable shows to close out an unbelievable July. We performed our third year at Salida’s “Thursdays @ 6″ series at Riverside Amphitheater on Thursday, July 24th. Though it was a rainy evening, we still managed to play a full show to a group of die-hard Beatles fans. Thanks to everyone for sticking it out with us, and for your patience while we scrambled to stay dry.

The next night brought us back to one of our favorite small taverns, The Black Nugget in Carbondale. This was our third time playing the Black Nugget as a full band, and it only gets better every time. This may have been the longest show we’ve played, with two marathon sets including over 60 songs played! We even covered Pink Floyd’s “Breathe” during our version of “Helter Skelter.” Here are a handful of recordings from the show:

Helter Skelter –> Breathe –> Helter Skelter

Strawberry Fields Forever

The Word

I Want You (She’s So Heavy)

Fixing a Hole

Tomorrow Never Knows

Kansas City (Hey Hey Hey)

Aspen Fourth of July

Doctor Robert, The Beatles Tribute from Crested Butte, CO, just finished three of the finest shows we’ve played in four years as a band. July 2nd brought us to Lions Park in Basalt for their weekly “Music after 5:00″ series. Thanks to the enthusiastic crowd that made it out on a perfect evening for outdoor music.

July 3rd brought us to Winter Park for our first time. We got to play the biggest stage to date, with huge sound and around 1000 people enjoying the “High Note Thursdays” weekly series.

After three years playing Crested Butte’s Fourth of July festivities, we were invited to play Aspen celebration in 2014. Rumor has it there were 5000 people in Wagner Park for the fireworks display, and we were lucky enough to entertain everyone before and after the fireworks. Thanks to the wide variety of age groups that brought out their best singing voices, dancing shoes, and love for Beatles music. This may have been our finest show yet, and we can’t wait for another show like this one.

We recorded the 7/2/14 show in Basalt, here are some songs from the second set:
Let it Be

A Day in the Life

The Word

Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, Dickens Opera House

Summer has officially begun… Doctor Robert performed at the kickoff party for Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park’s “Music on the Mountain” series for the second straight year, which means the Colorado outdoor summer music season has started. Thanks to everyone that braved the rain and wind to enjoy some Beatles music with Doctor Robert. This year 1,079 cans were dontated, quite a bit more than the 866 cans from last year’s kickoff party.

Our second night of music brought us to Dickens Opera House in Longmont for our first show at this amazing venue. The stage, sound, staff, and energy in the room are unparalleled, and we can’t wait to return to Dickens this fall/winter. Check out some recordings from the night here:

Wildwood Sounds in Del Norte

Doctor Robert can’t thank the good people of Del Norte and Wildwood Sounds enough for the amazing experience this past Saturday. We played 55 songs, over 200 minutes of music, and had the best time playing for an enthusiastic crowd. This was our fourth time playing Wildwood, and the place was standing-room only. We’re honored that so many of these fans have seen us every time we’ve been in Del Norte. Thanks to Stephen and Konnie for all the love we feel when we visit Wildwood Sounds.

Doctor Robert Beatles Tribute Video Mix

Doctor Robert would like to thank Rob, Michelle, and Josh at Green Garage Productions in Montrose, CO for a great night of music at Turn of the Century. The sound and lighting were top-notch, the crew did a great job promoting, and everyone that came out to the show had a fantastic time.

Snowmass Club, three20south Breckenridge

Doctor Robert, The Beatles tribute played the first shows on 2014 at The Snowmass Club and three20south this past weekend. Both shows were amazing, we can’t thank everyone enough for making our weekend so fun. This was our first visit to the Snowmass Club, and third show at three20south. Both shows had a much different age group, only proving that Beatles songs can inspire anyone to get into the music.

Black Nugget, Barkley Ballroom, Agave, Last Chance

Doctor Robert, The Beatles tribute, finished off 2013 in style with four shows in five nights leading up to New Year’s Eve. The Holiday Run included 70 different songs, with 179 songs played altogether, and over 11 hours of music.

We started out the Holiday Run with a packed house at The Black Nugget in Carbondale. This was our third show at The Black Nugget. Thanks to all the enthusiastic Beatles fans that had the Nug hopping all night, it was good to see so many familiar faces in the crowd. Unfortunately, we have no recording from this show.

Our next stop was in Frisco at Barkley Ballroom. Our first visit to Barkley brought out a good mix of locals and holiday visitors, and everyone had their best singing voices tuned up for the show. As it turned out, “1964: The Tribute” was also playing a show only 10 miles away, and several fans attended both shows. (A great article was in the Summit Daily News, you can read it here: http://www.summitdaily.com/news/9499366-113/beatles-tribute-band-doctor) Here are a few high-energy recordings from 12/28/13 at Frisco’s Barkley Ballroom:

I Saw Her Standing There

I Want to Hold Your Hand

You Never Give Me Your Money

Hey Bulldog –> Get Back

Our third straight night of music was at Agave in Avon. Agave is one of the best rooms Doctor Robert has performed in. With the unique character of the room, the ideal layout for watching music, and the incredible sound system, it was easy to be inspired to play a good show. Thanks to all the fans that made it out on a Sunday night, we can’t wait to return to Agave. This was also a great show, with a couple getting engaged during a special request of “If I Fell” during the show. We were also able to sneak in some skiing at Loveland before the show, always a bonus on the road. Here are some recordings from our first show at Agave in Avon:

Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds

I’ve Just Seen a Face

Mean Mr. Mustard –> Polythene Pam –> SCITTBW

Oh! Darling

Come Together –> Birthday

New Year’s Eve brought us back to The Last Chance in Gunnison for our second show at The Chance. Thanks to Todd Bogart at Full Circle Productions for having us bring in 2014 at a local venue, we love playing in Gunnison and had a great show to finish off an amazing year for Doctor Robert. Our “psychedelic Beatles jam experience” was fun to put together, and we found some great improvisational spaces throughout the night. No recordings from this show, but there may be some video in the coming days, so stay tuned.

Happy 2014 to all the Doctor Robert and Beatles fans out there, hope to see you more in the coming year…

Swallow Hill Music, Nissi’s, Quixote’s True Blue

Doctor Robert made it’s way to Colorado’s front range for three different and fun shows. We started the trip with an intimate show at Swallow Hill Music in the Swallow Hill Cafe (http://swallowhillmusic.org/). Blizzard conditions and the first really cold weather of the winter didn’t stop Beatles fans from coming out to the show, thanks to everyone who braved the elements. We weren’t able to recorder this show, but here’s a breakdown of the music:

Set I: Girl, All Together Now, Norwegian Wood, I’ve Just Seen a Face, I Feel Fine, Drive My Car, Hello Goodbye, Please Please Me, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Something, Back in the USSR –> Dear Prudence, Glass Onion –> Ob La Di Ob La Da, Can’t Buy Me Love, Love Me Do, Ballad of John and Yoko, While My Guitar Gently Weeps

The next night we made our way to Lafeyette to play Nissi’s Bistro (www.Nissis.com), an amazing “Supper Club” type venue with great food, great sound, and a very enthusiastic crowd. The night was sold out, billed as a “Flashback to the 60’s” with Doctor Robert starting the show with 90 minutes of Beatles music, followed by Doors Tribute, The Strange Parade. If you get the chance to see The Strange Parade, take advantage of the opportunity. They are spot-on with the sound and put on a great show. Again, there was no recording from this show, but here’s what was played:

You Can’t Do That, Drive My Car, Lady Madonna, Hello Goodbye, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, The Night Before, Back in the USSR –> Dear Prudence, It Won’t Be Long, Mean Mr. Mustard –> Polythene Pam –> She Came in Through The Bathroom Window, Ballad of John and Yoko, While My Guitar Gently Weeps –> Ob La Di Ob La Da, A Hard Day’s Night –> Come Together, Hey Bulldog, Revolution, Get Back, One After 909, A Day in the Life, With a Little Help From My Friends, When I’m 64

Opening band for The Strange Parade (Doors tribute)

The third and final night of our mini-tour brought us back to Quixote’s True Blue (www.Quixotes.com) for another unforgettable show at this classic Denver music venue. With posters of Jerry Garcia covering just about every square inch of the venue, how could a band not feel inspired to stretch out the music, giving some songs a little space to breathe. Last time we played Quixote’s, we were met by a wise man named Rex. This kind man came into our lives to point us in the direction of the jam. We weren’t quite prepared the first time around, but this time we were ready to impress Rex. Would he be there this time? No. We decided that his work was already finished with Doctor Robert, and that he was off at another venue, pointing another band toward the light. As it turned out, we did find some really fun musical spaces and stretched out the transitions like the best of the jambands. Here are some highlights from this unique show:

Strawberry Fields Forever –> I Am The Walrus

A Hard Day’s Night –> Come Together –> Helter Skelter –> Get Back
